EVALUATION OF REPRODUCTIVE TRAITS OF SOWS OF UKRAINIAN MEAT BREED IN A SERIES OF SUCCESSIVE GENERATIONS

Abstract

The results of the analysis of changes in the indices of reproductive traits of sows in four successive generations of Ukrainian meat breed (P, F<sub>1</sub>, F<sub>2</sub>, F<sub>3</sub>), subject to the traditional selection of gilts, are given in the article. It has been established that animals of generations F<sub>1</sub>, F<sub>2</sub>, F<sub>3</sub> were inferior sows by P-generation on all investigated parameters except mass of piglet at birth and litter size. It can be concluded that the traditional estimate of sows and selection of gilt, which are based on it, does not increase the genetic potential of the animals.
